I am starting this review, expressing my excitement for this book as it was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. The author, Bridget, is already a star in her genre and having enjoyed her previous works, I eagerly requested for an advanced reader copy. I would like to give a shout to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for granting me the opportunity to read this book before its official release. Said this all the opinions about this book are personal and my honest opinion. Thank you again to harper collins and Harper fiction for the opportunity. The publish day of this book is the 9 of may 2024. This book is fascinating. The story have a sense of mystery and is set in Victorian London for a part and then in Greece. We find all the details of this book from two points of view: one, the one of Henry in the present the important character of this book, and some Diaries. The story gets a turning point when Henry the main character, meets Sir Edward, and he seeks an opportunity with this meeting and starts learning about silk and the silk factory on Greece. They’re a few creepy details about spiders, so if you have a phobia for spiders, maybe this will be a little bit too much in the first chapter, and there’s more mention of the spiders around the book. In Greece we enter in the Diaries of Sophie. We’re we starting to learn a few creepy details about silk, and the book takes like a turning point in the reality of exploitation at this time; we have to remember that in Victoria Times, exploitation was like a massive thing in kids, so we start to see people in power that aren’t like good people, they are grey characters on power and using this against other people. My only trouble with the book , is that I feel that, in the end, the plot is inconclusive. I didn’t see a real ending on it, and the story finished flat, and I wanted to get more details. I would like to know more about the ambiance and the atmosphere in the book because I think that will give more mystery and more sense to the story. But we need to talk about this book for the importance that colonialism and the exploitation of time have in this story and the misogyny of the time that women needed to deal with So, I think some topics are marked as important things in this book. I like that if you read the books of Bridget in the past, you would know that she had a lyrical writing that is brilliant, and her books are like the gothic ambience trademark. The relatable characters underwent a well-crafted evolution throughout the plot. This book confirms Bridget’s exceptional storytelling prowess and beautiful writing. In this site we believe the book is a solid 🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars book
