I’ve been seeing this book everywhere – on social media, in train adverts – it seems to have one of the biggest campaigns of the year. The book may not appeal to everyone due to its unique style and prose. Some readers may not enjoy it because it features third-person narrative. Is full of VERY delightful paragraphs with third-person interior monologues from characters, creating a flow of thought and speech reminiscent of the writing style of Joyce. And as many of you know, I LOVE Joyce. The slow pace at the beginning of the book was incredibly frustrating, but I didn’t dislike it enough to stop reading because the character development and overall structure were so well done that I was really invested in finding out what would happen in the story. Rooney’s writing is characterized by her ability to express a wide range of emotions with effortless elegance, making her prose deeply relatable. Her raw, natural, and real characters resonate with readers, drawing them into the world she creates. If you want to find a mastered develop in characters you need read this book. In this story, The story follows the contrasting lives of two brothers, Ivan and Peter, who are complete opposites. Rooney delves into the themes of loss, regret, and self-reflection by examining the complex network of relationships, the dynamic nature of the world, and the deep connections between people. This book is not a romantic story, but it is filled with various relationships, with the central focus being the platonic bond between two brothers. The family drama between the brothers is one of the main topics in this book and I find it was handled in a very elegant way. In the novel, chess is used as a powerful metaphor by Rooney to illustrate her characters’ strategic maneuvers and relentless pursuit of victory. The characters in the book are often portrayed constantly making calculated moves in their quest for success.. The ending of the book felt incredibly raw, evoking a deep sense of sadness and honesty. ¿Would I recommend reading the book? Yes if you like the work of the author, and keep in mind is a very slow pace plot, the whole description of the characters can feel to much if you not used to this type of prose. In this blog we believe sally Rooney did a beautiful job on this book so we give her a 🌟🌟🌟🌟
