While I listened to the entire album of Naika on Spotify, feeling a heartache wash over me, I decided that this blog entry would be a bit different. This time, I wanted to talk about an author I adore: Walt Whitman. After all, what could be better for easing sorrow than poetry?
Walt is undeniably one of the most significant authors of the century, having had a profound influence on American literature. His impact is felt in various ways, shaping the voices of countless writers and resonating deeply within the literary tradition. Discussing his work can be challenging, but it’s essential to recognize his role in enriching the literary landscape there are numerous poets who spoke how Walt Whitman is influence on Their works my favorites are Ezra Pound and Allen Ginsberg.
Is worldly know that he was open writing about same-sex love and attractions which were massive at the time if we know the time his poems were set and the social aspect he needed to encourage with these themes.
I have a real conflict with some of the contemporary poetry of our times, because one sentences quote and a nice illustration make me feel like is such a sloppy and lazy poetry when we got the work of someone as Walt. And maybe I am just spoiled about the quality of poetry I need after reading poems by Walt In the end the value of his works change the writing technique as he also acknowledged topics that had never been addressed before.
Plus during American civil war he storage the pen and decide to take care of Injured and sick soldiers on Washington DC
Lets dive and enjoy his works when we got an chance. And If you miss someone maybe dedicate leaves of grass to them, you love someone, gift them some poem of Walt you can never go wrong with his poems.
