The debut novel that will lead us to crave more from Lucy Rose.

This year, I plan to immerse myself in the works of female authors, particularly those who resonate with my current fav topic, what I like to call “pure feral female rage.” I want to explore the depths of their narrative I plan discovering powerful stories that articulate the intensity of emotion and strength found within these works.

The book explores the complexities of motherhood and the mother-daughter relationship, particularly in the context of growing up in a challenging or dysfunctional home environment. It delves into the emotional dynamics and the impact such a background can have on familial ties, personal growth, and self-identity. (well if you keep in mind for Margot is normal consume humans as food)

Talking about traumatising reads and probably one of the best novels this 2025( I know is early but not everyday you encounter an author as this brilliant) A debut book that shake my core, first I felt very uncomfortable feeling so much love for Margot who is a child living with her mum , and they actively find prey and consume humans as food.

The story is brilliantly written, capturing the reader’s attention with its beautiful yet gory imagery. As I immersed myself in the narrative, I found myself caught in a whirlwind of emotions; it was a captivating experience that left me both hungry and nauseous. The vivid descriptions were so intense that I will never view fingers in the same way again. The combination of beauty and horror in the writing truly left a lasting impression on me not a pleasant one of you want me to be honest, but this is exactly what I look for in this type of books. I have a personal question for Lucy Rose: why did you want to hurt me this much? I feel like I need a new novel just to forgive you for this traumatic experience. However, I must say, I absolutely loved the complex emotions I had for Margot—the blend of love and hate was so confusing as reader. On the other hand, my feelings for the mother and the other woman are overwhelming; I dislike her so much that I won’t even mention her name.

The whole methapor about cannibalism as a sign of love and crave of it. Honestly is such a interesting topic and I think it The book will undoubtedly captivate those who appreciate this genre. I have a deep admiration for the ambiance that folk horror creates. Although it was a challenging read at times, it successfully pushed me out of my comfort zone. I often find that I need books to challenge me in this way, as it helps to enrich my reading experience memorable in my list. Call me a weirdo, but it is what it is. I finished this book with a deep sadness and an emptiness inside me that I fear I could never fill again. Solid 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 just because of the whole emotions, brilliant writing and Margot 💚
